Crystals are such a super fun and easy way to bring a little bit of magic into your living space. Not only are they pretty and aesthetic looking but putting your favorite crystals around can help create a certain vibe. In this case, we are creating * PROTECTION *. Now I don’t really think some big scary entity is out there and is going to attack you. Or some other type of mystical harm will come your way. But when you open yourself and your spaces up to energies such as magic, it’s always nice just to have some protection in place.
Why protect ourselves
Psychic spaces can become a little vulnerable. For instance if you’re empathic or sensitive you might be picking up, and carrying home the energies of your stressful job. Or you could be walking into someone’s anger and carry that right to your room with you.
If you do spellwork, you’re always going to want to protect your space. Your spellwork and manifesting rituals are highly sensitive and you definitely don’t want anyone’s energy affecting those spaces.
Maybe you have an altar or area where you perform magic. You’ll also want to keep that area clear for rituals or even just wanting to create a peaceful mood in your own home or space.
Crystals for protection
There are lots of crystals on the market for protection and it can be daunting to choose which ones work best for you. Remember when buying crystals for yourself select the ones you feel akin to. Even if purchasing online. Look at the colors, the texture, read over the crystal properties and if you don’t like something then make a hard pass. But if a crystal is speaking to you then most likely its properties align with your energy.
Selenite
I’ve read somewhere that this is a stone for Angels. And even if I don’t know if that’s necessarily true I think it speaks to the magnitude of this crystal. Keeping this crystal around helps elevate the energy of your space, clears blocks and is highly effective in removing energies.
Black Tourmaline
Some might feel like this crystal is too heavy or brings around weird emergy. I use Black Tourmaline to protect against unwanted energy. It creates a sort of shield keeping its spaces clear.
Smoky Quartz
This is a smoky stone known for absorbing energy, specifically anything negative. If you’ve been feeling down or not great, place a Smoky Quartz around to help lift your energy.
Carnelian
This crystal is less offensive and more defensive. It helps by increasing your energy and helps to combat any negative feelings coming from yourself.
Amethyst
I always encourage people to use Amethyst. It’s pretty, purple, looks great sitting out anywhere and is an overall great protection crystal.
Remember that crystals are just extensions of your belief, pulling energies and properties they are assigned to. For me, crystals are more of a fun thing to have around than a necessary item in witchcraft. You can place them in your space as a way to drum up some extra protection qualities but always remember the real work comes from inside of you.
