Your Basic Protection Spell

Your Basic Protection Spell

When life throws negativity your way—whether it’s bad vibes, unwanted energy, or straight-up hexes—you don’t need fancy tools to defend yourself. All you need is a little dirt, some grit, and the right intention. This Protection Spell is a no-nonsense, grounded ritual to help you create a powerful shield around yourself using natural elements.

What You’ll Need:

  • A handful of dirt (from where you live or the place you feel safest)

  • A small bowl of water (for cleansing & sealing)

  • A pinch of black salt (or regular salt + crushed charcoal)

  • Three whole cloves (for protection & banishing negativity)

  • A black candle (or a white one if that’s what you have)

  • A sharp object (stick, nail, or anything to carve with)

Step-by-Step Spell Instructions

Hold the dirt in your hands. Close your eyes and feel its strength, its stability. Let its grounding energy flow into you.

Add the black salt and cloves to the dirt. Use your hands to crush and mix them together. As you do, visualize the mixture absorbing and neutralizing any bad energy lingering around you.

Take some of the dirt mixture and draw a protective symbol on your body—your hands, forehead, or the back of your neck.

Some symbol ideas:

  • An X (to block negativity)

  • A circle (to seal your energy)

Using your sharp object, carve a word, sigil, or initials into the candle. Some powerful words to use:

  • SAFE

  • STRONG

  • PROTECTED

Light the candle and hover your hands over the flame (not too close—no singed fingers here!).

Dip your fingertips into the water and wash away any remaining dirt. Then, take the leftover dirt mixture and either sprinkle it at your doorstep (to guard your space) or carry a pinch in a small bag for ongoing protection.

Best Time to Perform This Spell

  • Tuesday → Associated with Mars, the planet of strength and defense.

During a Waning Moon → Perfect for banishing negativity and unwanted energy.
